Who We Are

The Catholic University of Valencia is an institution built around a mission: a shared purpose uniting staff and students alike, where the heart of our work lies in personal growth, the cultivation of virtue, and intellectual engagement.

Ultimately, if education means helping students become who they are truly called to be, then UCV is the place where young people can flourish and pursue a life of true meaning — one that transcends the pragmatic mindset so prevalent in today’s society.

A University Where People Matter

The Catholic University of Valencia (UCV) is a private, not-for-profit university located in Valencia, Spain’s third-largest city. The UCV started its academic journey as the Edetania University School of Teaching in 1969, and after more than 30 years of academic excellence, The Catholic University of Valencia “San Vicente Mártir” was established in 2003 by the Archbishop of Valencia Agustín García Gasco.

At UCV, a genuine spirit of service is at the heart of everything we do. We foster both intellectual and personal curiosity, encouraging our students to grow, explore and lead meaningful, lives with purpose.

UCV is an institution capable of providing education at every stage of life, engaging with its community and the challenges of today, but above all, responding to a commitment to a generation that wants to– and can – change the world: the university where people matter.

At UCV, we don’t just educate students – we form people.

Mission

To provide high-quality education and foster the holistic development of our students, empowering them to become distinguished individuals—recognized for their knowledge, actions, and commitment to the common good. We aim to form professionals who are guided by a spirit of service and who contribute to society through a constructive and open engagement with Christian thought in the public sphere.

We offer not only a space for vocational training but also a place to seek deeper truth—grounded in academic freedom, excellence in teaching, and a close connection to the professional world.

Vision

To be a leading institution in the pursuit of Truth through our commitment to science, research, and teaching rooted in a profound understanding of the human person.

To inspire in our students an intellectual and personal curiosity that leads to a fulfilling and meaningful life.

To shape society by responding to today’s intellectual, social, and environmental challenges from within the academic and professional arenas.

To preserve and enrich our scientific and cultural heritage, placing it in service of genuine human progress.

UCV Values

At UCV people are our priority. Our university community is at the center of everything we do. We want you to feel recognised, listened to and supported at every step.
Education is more than just earning credits. At UCV, you’ll discover new passions, refine essential life skills and grow into a well-rounded individual ready to shine in and out of the classroom.
What you study at UCV goes beyond the classroom. Through practical projects and community initiatives, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and make a meaningful difference in your community and beyond.
At UCV we integrate science, reason and faith, encouraging deep reflection and open dialogue among all disciplines. You will explore life’s biggest questions and find your own purpose.
Ideas, research and small daily gestures focused on leaving a better planet than the one we found. Sustainability is woven into campus life, academics, and community projects.
