Hunger continues to be humanity’s main problem. According to the FAO, roughly 793 million people worldwide that do not have access to adequate and nutritious food. Despite the declining undernourishment that has been achieved in recent decades, especially in the developing countries, the amount of hunger in the world remains alarming and chilling.

To fight against hunger, it is necessary to join the efforts of all governments, public and private institutions, as well as the research community to analyze and propose solutions that will aid in ensuring that the world´s population has access to healthy, nutritious, and adequate food.

It is also necessary for these solutions to make nutrition and agriculture more productive and sustainable, that is, to increase food systems production to meet growing demand, while conserving biodiversity and utilizing natural resources and ecosystems in a sustainable and respectful manner.
