Tuuli Toivonen
Visitor monitoring in the age of mobile big data: what we’ve learned over ten years of research
Tuuli Toivonen is a geographer and professor of geoinformatics at the Department of Geosciences and Geography, University of Helsinki. She leads the interdisciplinary Digital Geography Lab, which focuses on mobility and accessibility research using spatial analytics and big data. For over a decade, her work has explored the use of mobile big data to understand recreational use of nature and nature-based tourism. She currently leads two large research projects on visitor monitoring using digital footprints and is a member of the VIMAS doctoral training network.
